In Loving Memory of Elsie “Joan” Meeres (McDonell)
Born August 7, 1932 – Passed February 29, 2020
Born and raised in Edmonton, she completed her Lab Technician Diploma at the U of A where she met her husband Ralph Meeres. They moved to Cremona where Ralph taught and they started a family. From Cremona, they moved to Satinwood and back to Cremona before settling in their “forever” home on a farm NE of Lacombe. During their first years in Lacombe she worked at the local hospital as a lab technician before starting her 17 year career as a technician in Agricultural Research at the Lacombe Research Station all while raising 5 children.
After the passing of her husband, she was involved in travels, adventures and volunteer activities too numerous to mention.
Joan is survived by son David Meeres (Lynn), son Terry Meeres, daughter Marlene Ironside (Don), son Delbert (Cinda) and son Howard Meeres (Judy) and her many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Villa Marie in Red Deer.

A Celebration of Joan’s Life will take place 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 7th, 2020 at St. Andrew’s United Church, 5226 – 51 Ave, Lacombe, with a graveside service to follow at Fairview Cemetery.
