With saddened hearts we regret to announce the death of Elmer MacDonald, aged 72 years of South Lake at his home surrounded by the love of his family and devoted wife of 47 years, Irene (nee MacPhee). He was the son of the late Charlie and Rita (nee Murphy) MacDonald.
Elmer is survived by and will be forever loved and missed by his children Tony, NovaLee (Jeff Smith), Bradley (Arlene) and Megan Cheverie (Mike). Brother of Gen MacLean (Gerald), Paula Sonmor (Barry), Barb Cheverie, Preston (Margie), Sheila Cheverie (Francis), Darlene Clinton (Louis), Richard (Ernestine) and brother-in-law to Cindy MacDonald. Loving and generous grandfather AKA “Da” to Maddy, Brenna, Serena, Lucas, Lydia, Lexie, Elizabeth, Gabrielle, Keaton, Chase, Edwin, Joni and Stella.
Elmer will also be missed by a large MacPhee extended family, many nieces and nephews, friends, firemen and fellow fishermen from North Lake and beyond. He is predeceased by his brother Sterling, nephew Jordan and brother-in-law Albert Cheverie. Elmer will be greatly missed by his “special buddy” Warren Stewart.
Resting at Dingwell Funeral Home with visiting hours for immediate family only. A public visitation and funeral mass will take place at the St. Columba Roman Catholic Church, Fairfield at a later date. If so desired, donations made to the Souris Hospital would be greatly appreciated by the family.
