Obituary
Peacefully, on Saturday, August 1, 2020 the Lord took to himself Elly Olij Brands at the age of 90. Loving mother of Annette, Peter and Elaine, Harold and Joyce, and Aart and Kate. Cherished Oma of Laura and Tim, Neil and Jilian, Alex and Kathryn, Belinda, Sabrina, David, Hannah, Joe, Carolyn, Adam, and Oma Oma of Chloe, Meghan, Sophie, Harley, and Izzy. Predeceased by her first husband Rev. Cornelis Olij (1987) and her second husband Gerrit Brands (2015). Elly is survived by her brothers Harm, Roel (Vera), and brother-in-law Gerrit. Predeceased by her sisters Baukje, Ger, and Tiny. She will also be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to the staff on the stroke ward at the Hamilton General Hospital, and the staff on 2W and 4E at St. Peter’s Hospital for all of their care and support. Visitation will be held at Cornerstone Canadian Reformed Church, 353 Stone Church Rd. E, Hamilton on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m., where a Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at 2 p.m. To attend the visitation or service please sign up via the link below or call the funeral home at 905-689-4852.

Elly will be laid to rest privately prior to the service, with her first husband Cornelis at Elgin Mills Cemetery, Richmond Hill. If desired, as expressions of sympathy donations to the Harvest Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
