Ellis Reimer 1946 2020

Obituary of Ellis Reimer
While on his evening stroll June 15, 2020, one week after his 74th birthday, Ellis T. Reimer, felt the arms of love reach down and he crossed peacefully over to be with his Saviour.
He was born into the home of Tony and Caroline Reimer June 8, 1946, the second youngest of 7 children. He left a legacy of solid faith in God and unconditional love. The uncertainty of serious health issues the past years led him to cherish the moments with his family and put his trust in God. He loved to sing and many of his favourites the past months were songs about Heaven.
We who will miss him most are:
His beloved wife of 53 years, Diane
Sons: Bruce & Jodi
Ron & Dolores
Dwight & Mary
Daughters:
Jolene & Garen
Sheila & Dave
18 grandchildren. He was eagerly awaiting the arrival of 2 great grandchildren in November.
Brother Leroy & Maryanne
Sister-in-law Joyce
Sister Jenny & Wilbert
Sister Audrey
Sister Darlene
The family who left before him are his parents, 2 brothers and one brother in law.
Many a friend will be bereft of his stories told and retold over countless cups of coffee, from a shared faith in God to cattle market prices.
Ellis T. Reimer was born and spent his entire life in the Linden area where he formed lasting relationships. He valued the many people who worked with and for him through the years.
At the age of 17 he lost his Dad which was a big hurt and one he found hard to share. He chose to accept the responsibilities that life gave him and was committed to looking after his sister Darlene.
At 16 years old he committed his life to Christ and was baptized. This faith he lived daily and taught by example. Church was an important part of his life and many an early Sunday morning found him with Hymnal in hand singing. His family cherish the memory of his punctuality, honesty and strong work ethic. He loved to remind everyone how he had he had been up for hours and had a day’s work done before breakfast.
He first met the love of his life, Diane Gail Johnson at her family ranch in Southern Alberta. They exchanged vows on December 16, 1966. Together they built a life and raised their five children. Many times, their home was a secure haven for people needing a listening ear.
Though he was a farmer his whole life and also raised poultry and grain, his heart was always in cattle. When times were hard, he turned to other enterprises, including trucking, custom work, and farming in Northern Alberta. The years he spent selling equipment at Linden Agri Center was a time he really enjoyed.
Favourite family times with his children included trips to Radium where he loved the routine of booking the same hotel each year. Pine Lake drew him often through the years, and he loved to fish. As many will know him, if he didn’t have a bite within 15 minutes, he had motored back to shore and announced, “they weren’t biting today”!!
The year they spent at the Edmonton Guest House formed lasting relationships with both the girls working there and the guests that stayed.
He will be remembered for his love of humour, wit and shared stories.
