Ellen Kitella 2020

The family of Ellen Kitella is saddened to announce her passing on March 7, 2020 at the age of 90.
She is survived by five children: Dianne (Gary) Hack, Rose Mallow, Patricia Kitella (Barry Cowan), Joanne (Todd) McCorriston, and Greg (Cynthia) KItella, a daughter-in-law Birdie Kitella, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband Roman in 1998 and her son John in 2004.
Mom was born on July 17, 1929 in Ituna, Sask, to Walter and Victoria Habinski. She married Roman in 1948 and together they raised six children in various railroad towns around Saskatchewan, finally settling in Saskatoon in 1963.
Mom loved to garden, and always had a huge potato patch growing so she could make the best perogies in the city. She also loved to watch birds, and would place bird feeders in various spots in the yard so she could watch them from her sun-room windows. She even raised several finches, budgies and canaries over the years. What she loved the most were her houseplants, especially her orchids. She had an uncanny ability to make them bloom practically forever. In 2017 it became too difficult for her to live on her own, so she moved to the assisted living wing of Palisades Seniors Residence, where she resided until her passing.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Palisades for their great care of mom while she was there. You all were so kind and patient with her. A special thank you to the staff of the RUH Acute Stroke wing for their care and compassion, and for ensuring that mom’s last days were pain-free and peaceful.
At mom’s request, there will be no funeral. A private family graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Ellen Kitella 2020..
