Obituary of Elizabeth Lena Graham
Elizabeth (Betty) Graham (nee Maier)
September 26, 1937 – August 3, 2020
Betty was born on the farm near Holdfast, SK. She was the youngest of 11 children. She enjoyed life on the farm and later moved to Regina with her mom. Mom worked at SaskPower; this is where she met Keith Graham and they were married in 1966. Their daughter, Joanne, was born in Regina. Six months later, Dad was transferred to Prince Albert which became their home. Their son, Sean, was born a year later. Mom stayed home to look after the kids and was very active in their lives. When we were a little older, Mom worked as a care aide at the old Mont St. Joseph Home, and when that job became too difficult due to the onset of arthritis, she was the receptionist for the Sisters of the Presentation. This was a job she truly enjoyed.
Her greatest joys were her grandsons. She loved spending time with them and became very good at playing hockey with the mini-sticks. She enjoyed watching them play hockey and softball, traveling to many cities and towns to watch. Mom also enjoyed watching lacrosse, especially the Sask Rush, as her son Sean became very involved in that sport.
Mom was a very giving person and volunteered for many years. She coached bowling, helped with refugee families, was involved in the CWL and was a part of the Herb Bassett Home Auxiliary.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Joanne (Scot) Kutnikoff; her grandsons, Andrew (Emily Kessler), Adam and Matthew Kutnikoff; her brother, Frank (Mae) Maier; her sister-in-law, Martha Maier and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her very close friends Marg, Iris and Dianne. They have shared a very special friendship that is as strong today as it was over 50 years ago.
Betty was predeceased by her husband, Keith; her son, Sean; her parents, Alexander and Elizabeth; her sisters, Helen, Minnie, Katherine, Mary and Marge; and her brothers, Sam, George, Peter and John.
We would like to thank the staff in ICU and Level 6 at the Victoria Hospital for the exceptional care that mom received for her last few days.
