Obituary of Elizabeth Koopmans
“I’m home. It took leaving my home country to join the man I loved. It took one look and we knew our forever was ahead of us. It took faith and much love to leave my siblings and parents to start a new life on Canadian soil. I crossed that ocean and our incredible life began.
Don’t cry because I’m gone, smile because I lived…laugh much, live well and love One another…”
-Elizabeth Koopmans
Peacefully, the matriarch of our family, our Oma, Elizabeth Koopmans, reunited with many of her loved ones on Tuesday ,August 18th, 2020.
She was married to the “lief” of her life, Dick Koopmans for 57 years.
Beloved mother of Bernita (Sam) Attinello, Steven Koopmans, and Peter (Nicole) Koopmans. Oma to Jocelyn Attinello (Mac Bayly), Demetria Attinello (Will Tetzlaff), Kyle Koopmans (Mary Turner), Ashley Attinello, Karter Koopmans, and Tabatha Hall. Special great Oma to Aubree Grazia, her little princess.
Elizabeth came from a family of twelve brothers and sisters; her remaining relatives reside in the old country, Holland.
Dear sister-in-law of Alice Russell (nee Koopmans).
Also survived by many nieces and nephews who were very close to her heart.
She enjoyed visiting her family back in Holland and had many trips back home for family reunions. She was the sweetest person on earth, her grandchildren will miss her kindness, and being spoiled on every holiday and birthday.
A Private Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home, 76 Main Street East, Ridgetown, on Friday, August 21st, 2020. Interment to follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Elizabeth’s memory may be made, payable by cheque, to the Ontario Brain Injury Association.
