Elizabeth Stewart Moore Tuesday October 27th 2020

Peacefully on Tuesday October 27, 2020, with her family at her side, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Elizabeth passed away.
Liz was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Jack, in 2018. She will be sadly missed by her children, Diane and Allan Gilders, Glen and Monica Stewart, Colleen and Keith Bytheway, and by her nine grandchildren, and three great grandchildren, Serena Taylor (Fraser, Elijah, Noah, and Micah), Mackenzie (Liz), and Jackson (Emma) Wardle, Vaughn and Chloe Stewart, Hayden (Bianca), Brock (Abbey), Foster and Graeme Bytheway. She is also survived by brothers Ian (Joanne), and Bob (Sue) Moore, brother-in-law Bob (Heather) Stewart, a large extended family, and many great friends.
Born in Winnipeg, Liz grew up in Woodhaven, and graduated from St. James Collegiate. As a young girl, Mom was an accomplished speed skater, and played hockey with the kids at the rink when there weren’t enough boys to ice a team. She married Jack, her lifelong love, in 1958, and soon moved to Freemont Bay, where together, they raised their children, and made many lasting friendships. In those years Mom worked primarily in banking, when she wasn’t busy driving kids to ice rinks, piano lessons, dance, and gymnastics. After raising their own family and retiring, Jack and Liz opened a day care, where they enjoyed having young ones again in their home to nurture and care for. Many kids and parents came through their doors; a few of these relationships deepened and were cherished as years went by.
Mom had many talents which she generously shared with friends and family. She loved to entertain and created delicious meals and treats. Mom was a gifted seamstress and quilter. Even in her last few days she was putting final touches on yet another baby quilt for her family. Mom also volunteered her sewing talents to the Days for Girls charity. She greatly enjoyed sewing and visiting with her fellow seamstresses and improving the lives of girls around the globe. Above all, Mom was a gifted artist. Mom belonged to the Charleswood Art Group and worked mainly in water colours. She loved to learn from her peers and she valued greatly her relationships with her art friends. Many of Mom’s friends and family have benefitted from her amazing work. Her memory will live on, through all of her cherished creations.
The family would like to express sincere gratitude to Michael Wilson of Charleswood United Church for his time and compassion.
Cremation has taken place. Special thanks to Neil Bardal Funeral Centre.
To honour Mom’s wishes, a public service will not be held. If you so wish, donations can be made in Mom’s memory to a charity of your choice.
