Mrs. Elizabeth ‘Beth’ Ann Lindsay Skjonsberg of Red Deer, Alberta passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 26, 2020 at the age of 96 years. Beth was born in Rimbey, Alberta and grew up in Leedale, Alberta; where her family ran the little Store and the Post Office. She was the youngest Postmistress, at seventeen years old, in the Dominion of Canada in July 1941. In 1945, Beth started work with AGT. In the beginning, she worked in many small towns, her favourite being Turner Valley; where she discovered a love of golf and curling. She also worked in Calgary and later transferred to Red Deer, Alberta. After thirty-two years with AGT, Beth retired in Red Deer, where she has remained. Beth married Ed Skjonsberg in 1976. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Helen and her children, Michael (Teresa), Heather, Joanne (Lee) Smith and Graeme; her stepson, Tom Skjonsberg (Trudy); her stepdaughters, Susan (Doug) Melnyk and Sandi (Mel) Williams; as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Beth was predeceased by her husband, Ed Skjonsberg in 2008, and a son Hugh Lindsay in 2019; her father, Hugh Lindsay, born in Tayvallich, Scotland, and her mother, Loretta Mae Nugent, born in the Township of Chatham, Minnesota, USA. The family would like to extend special thanks to the wonderful staff at Villa Marie Covenant Care. A Graveside Interment will follow at a later date.
