1927-2020
It is with great sadness that the family of Elaine Winnifred
(McCarthy) Lewis, wife of the late W. Edwin Lewis, announce her
passing on Sunday, August 9, 2020 at Passamaquoddy Lodge, St Andrews,
NB.
Born in St. Andrews, NB. on January 25, 1927, she was the
second child of George and Helena (Ryan) McCarthy.
Elaine and Edwin lived in St. Andrews for a short time after
the war before moving to the Digby area and eventually settling in
Clementsport, NS. In 1961 they moved to Sackville, NB., where Elaine
took up curling and her greatest passion, golf. Elaine was also very
active in the St. John Ambulance, administering first aid at events
and transporting patients between hospitals in Sackville, Moncton, and
Saint John. In 1981 they made their final move to St. Andrews,
NB.
She will be greatly missed by her three daughters; Lorraine
King (late Charles King) of Summerside, PEI, Heather Lewis (Blythe
Chang) and Sandra Lewis, both of St. Andrews, NB., three
granddaughters; Lynn Macleod (Ronald) of Ellerslie, PEI, Cheryl King
of Summerside, PEI and Kelly MacLean (Franklin) of Chamcook, NB.,
three great-granddaughters; Jessica and Jamie MacLeod and Leigha
MacLean, two great-grandsons; Alexander and Nolan MacLean, sister,
Ruth Corbett , several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Elaine was
predeceased by her sisters; Margaret Daws, Alice Dougherty, Helen
McCarthy, Sheila Gaspari, Agnes McCarthy and brothers; Francis and
John.
A private family service will be held.
For those who wish donations in memory of Elaine may be made
to the IWK Children’s Hospital or a charity of
one’s choice. Condolences may be sent to the family online
