Obituary of Eileen Vivian MacLean
Eileen Vivian MacLean (nee Pickles)
December 28th, 1930 – May 18, 2020
With profound sadness and broken hearts, the MacLean family announces the passing of Eileen in her 90th year. She was one of this world’s rare and beautiful people. Eileen was the daughter of Frank and Emma Pickles of Sydney, Nova Scotia. She came to Ontario in 1948 and met and married Ken, who, along with his family, had recently arrived from Inverness, Scotland. They married on April 22nd, 1949. She is survived by her loving husband, Ken MacLean. Eileen was Ken’s beloved wife of 71 years and theirs was a true love story. Predeceased by her loved and cherished daughter, Eileen Vivian Mills (March 4, 2019) and lovingly remembered by daughters, Dianne Archibald (John), Catherine MacLean (Alan Taylor) and Frances MacLean. Much loved by five grandchildren; Aaron Archibald (Amanda Blaine), Kate Archibald (Joe Giuliano), Eric MacLean, Emily Mills (Dan) and Rob Mills and four great-grandchildren; Graye and Leigh Archibald, Andrew and Matthew Giuliano. Eileen loved her family deeply and made them the centre of her life. We always felt her love, gentleness and support as she walked through life with us. We were privileged to call her wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. We will miss seeing her beautiful smile the sound of her sweet voice and the love and warmth we felt from her hugs. She will be remembered through her kindness, generous spirit, big heart and sense of humour. Eileen travelled widely, enjoyed gardening and bird watching, had a deep appreciation for music and was an accomplished artist; leaving many wonderful memories in her art. Eileen lived her life with beauty, compassion, courage, dignity and grace and departed this world with that same dignity and grace. You will continue to walk with us in our hearts and through the many cherished memories you left us. Thank you for all the love and joy that you filled our lives with. You left a lasting footprint on this world. We love you now and forever. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the Brantford Stedman Hospice Outreach Team, the VON and Bayshore nursing teams, Brierwood Gardens staff and the PSW’s who cared for Eileen in her home over the years. Special Condolences may be shared with the family at www.mccleisterfuneralhome.ca or sent to Eileen and Ken MacLean’s home In lieu of flowers donations in Eileen’s name may be made to the Brantford Stedman Hospice.
