Eileen Taylor Dodge May 5 2020

In this current day of a world-wide pandemic which has changed everyone’s life & the way we have to deal with death – how do you honor the loss of a loved one when you cannot bring people together to grieve, reminisce & pay their respects? It is a tragedy & nightmare all in one – so this is our tribute to our very own modern-day “Wonder Woman”.
A compassionate listener who always provided valuable life advice…the world changed when she slipped away peacefully in her sleep on the night of Tuesday May 5, 2020.
Eileen Taylor (Dodge) was born in Little Hearts Ease, Trinity Bay, NL in August of 1944. Predeceased by her parents Elsie Pearl Dodge (Avery) (2000)& father Chesley Dodge (1975) & also baby boy Chesley Taylor (1966), she was very much a loving & dedicated daughter, wife, Mother, Grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin & friend.
With an infectious laugh & love to “carry-on”, her personality was so very genuine and she held nothing back – funny, strong, courageous, self-less, a truly kind-hearted soul who dearly loved her family & could talk your ear off about her grandchildren Sydney, Austin & Avery. They gave her so much pure joy & loved their Nannie to the moon & back.
Lovingly known as “Mudder” & “Da Boss”, she loved to chat & had an amazing ability to put people at ease. Her daughters Kimberley & Nicole grew up knowing the value of hard work & kindness because of her unconditional love.
Throughout her life, she loved spending time with family especially at Bowring Park, playing cards, going to Bingo, knitting, reading greeting cards, always enjoyed thunderstorms, watching her TV shows and the NTV Evening News. She loved using her iPad and enjoyed video calls to her grandkids so everyone could make funny faces. An animal lover, she throughly enjoyed her cuddles with Maxx & Stella as well her many other fur babies over the years. She was such a kind & gentle soul who would help anyone – she would give you the shirt off her back & never take anything in return. She was the mother who would come pick you up from downtown at 4am on a Saturday night all because she wanted to know you & your friends all got home safely.
Married to Patrick for almost 55 years, love, strength, perseverance & family were their core values. In their early years they truly enjoyed outdoor adventures of ski-dooing, fishing and fireside cook ups. They also have wonderful memories of traveling and seen many beautiful places together.
She loved her sons-in-law Todd (Kim) & Dave (Nicole) as if they were her own.
A work life that took her on many different paths such as healthcare, accounting, retail and finally an 18+ year career with Sobeys, she was a dedicated hard-worker who always said “a strong work ethic will never do you wrong.” Sadly, a workplace health injury in the 1990’s left her in chronic pain for the rest of her life. Regardless of the pain she endured, there was always her smile, laugh & pleasant nature that made everyone around her feel like they were family.
She cared deeply for her brother Ern, sister-in-law Mary & their family with whom she spoke to each day.
Lots of great memories with sister-in-law & brother-in-law Linda & John Churchill and family.
So lucky to have amazing women in her life, she had strong friendships with her cousins Bertha Greening & Loretta Gosse sisters-in-law Mary Dodge & Linda Churchill. She so loved her many nieces and nephews.
She will be sadly missed by family & friends in Halifax, NS where she loved to visit with Kim & family.
Greatest appreciation to the Paramedics, Firefighters & First Responders for their continued dedication to our loved ones.
She was our rock – we are so proud to call her Mom – our Super Wonder Woman.
We promise to carry forward the very best pieces of you.
Mudder – we love you a hundred-million barrels…to the Moon & back.
Service to be held at later date.
Donations can be made in her name to the SPCA, Heart & Stroke Society, Cancer Research or any charity of your choosing.
Many Thanks
The Taylor Family
