Obituary
BAIER, Edwin J.
March 7, 1943 – January 16, 2020
Edwin J. Baier, age 76, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at St. Paul’s Hospital, Saskatoon. Born and raised in Macklin, SK, the son of George and Rose (nee Hollman) Baier, he was the second oldest of eight children. Ed married the love of his life Dorothy 53 years ago, with whom they had two children. Family life included Sunday visits to Grandma and Grandpa Baier’s for homemade soup. At 43 years old Ed obtained his Millwright Certificate from SIAST. His creative knack for solving mechanical problems and being good with his hands along with strong work values resulted in 35 years of service with Robin Hood. Grandchildren soon became the second love of his life proven by changing his first baby diaper. The teddy bears were on backwards, but it worked! Loved ones that will miss Ed until they meet again are his beloved wife Dorothy (nee Sieben); daughter Gwenda (Ron) Spence; son Warren (Tracy) Wry; seven grandchildren; great grandson Jett; mother-in-law Josephine Sieben; as well as brothers, sisters, numerous nieces and nephews and in-laws. Memorial contributions may be made to the Close to Home Campaign for Hospice and End-of-Life Care www.stpaulshospital.org/foundation/campaign/. The Liturgy of the Word will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church (3339 Centennial Drive) with Fr. David Tumback presiding. The Rite of Committal will take place at a later date. Arrangements in care of David Schurr – Mourning Glory Funeral Services (306) 978-5200.
