Obituary
Edward (Eddie) Powroznik
June 9, 1939 – December 6, 2020
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a kind and gentle soul. Just like he dealt with all experiences in life, he managed his cancer with strength and grace, and wanted to spend as much time with his loved ones as possible. On his final day in God’s hands he was surrounded by his family, whom he adored more than anything else in the world.
Dad was born in Teulon and raised in Gimli, Manitoba. He began perma teaching at age 17. He completed his education at the University of Manitoba and spent 35 years as a school teacher in the Evergreen School Division and 27 of these years were taught at various Gimli Schools.
In his retirement years he enjoyed his walks, bike rides and sporting events especially with his brother-in-law Ron Oakes as well as playing slot machines at South Beach Casino with special friends Joe, Jennie, Walter and Vivian.
Ed will be lovingly missed and forever remembered by his wife of 52 years Audrey, daughter Michelle (Ryan), grandchildren Chloe and Ethan, son Andy (Sharon).
Eddie will be dearly missed by his sisters Jean Oakes of San Diego, California, Margie Tymofichuk of Winnipeg and numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
Dad was predeceased by his mother Mary in 1969, his father Andrew in 1980, brother Sam in 1974 and sister Stella in 2018.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
If tomorrow starts without me,
please try to understand,
that an angel came and called my name
and took me by the hand;
She said my place was ready
in a heaven far above,
and that I’d have to leave behind
all those I dearly love.
So when tomorrow starts without me,
don’t think we’re far apart,
for every time you think of me,
I’m right here in your heart.
