Edward Patrick Murphy 2020

Edward Patrick Murphy
March 26, 1928 – January 20, 2020

Memorial Donation
Edward Patrick Murphy died just short of his 92nd birthday on January 20th. Our Dad was predeceased by his youngest son, John, in 2006, and in 2014 by his wife of 56 years, Bernadette (Murphy). Ed was the youngest and the last surviving child of Leo Joseph Murphy (originally from Oderin) and Annie (Power) of Argentina. Dad grew up on Freshwater Road and was a proud alumnus of St. Bonaventure’s College, class of 1945. He was also predeceased by his siblings Rose, Mary, Andrew and Brendan. We, Ed and Bernie’s children, – Paul (Lola) and Ann (Stephen May) – mourn the loss of our father, as do his grandchildren, Timothy and Nikola May; his sisters-in-law, Joan Murphy, and Mary Howley (Tom) held a special place in his heart. Ed and Bernie made life-long friends in St. John’s, at their summer home in Topsail Pond, and later in Sarasota, Florida, where they spent more than twenty-five winters. Thanks to Kenny’s Pond Retirement Community who, for more than five years, have helped Dad adjust to life after Bernie, and have given him such loving and tender care. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at Mary Queen of Peace church at a time to be announced later.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Edward Patrick Murphy 2020..
