Edith “Mae” Wickett
With sadness yet the acknowledgment of a life well lived, the family of Mae Wickett announce her passing at 93 years of age on July 12, 2020.
Mae was born in New Liskeard February 18, 1927 to Albert F. Kosmack and Mabel (Peddie) Kosmack. At 9 months she moved to Kirkland Lake Ontario where she received her formal education. On June 11th, 1949 Mae married the love of her life Marvin Wickett (deceased July 1st 2008) and together they raised 4 children in New Liskeard, ON: Linda Hewitt (Michael – deceased July 5, 2014), Ron Wickett (deceased November 19 2013) ( Patricia Forget), Ruth Wickett (Jeffrey Phelps), Wendy Tremblay (Marc Tremblay). Predeceased by her parents, husband Marvin, son Ron, son-in-law Michael, sister Bea McGregor and grandson Jordan Hewitt. Also survived by her sister Joan (Kosmack) McKelvie (Dennis).
She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Charmaine Lussier, Connie Hogue, Jennifer Cantin , James Hewitt, Alisa Hewitt, Karen Hewitt, Jeffrey Hewitt, Jessica Stary, Shannon Sharifi, Megan Wickett, Victoria Wickett, Emma Wickett, Christine Tremblay, Matthew Tremblay, April Phelps, Victoria Phelps, Katryna Phelps and many great grandchildren.
Mae and Marvin attended Community of Christ and together supported many local & third world development projects. They were actively involved in the sponsorship of a Vietnamese family in 1980 and remained friends with them until the time of Mae’s death. Mae loved her family and was a great homemaker. She loved to cook, sew, and keep a loving home for her husband and children. She welcomed many into her home from far and near and liked to host social events. In her eighties Mae developed a passion for making doll clothes. She sewed thousands of articles of clothing, dressed dolls and sent them worldwide to children in need of toys. She continued doing this into her nineties until it became too physically demanding for her. Her greatest joy was her church & her family. She had a great faith in God and tried to live her life the best way she knew. She now looks forward to reuniting with her husband, son, family & friends. May she rest peacefully.
Family will be receiving friends at Hillside Funeral Services, 362 Airport road on Saturday July 25th, 2020 from 10 to 11am followed by a celebration of life at 11am. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Mae’s name to the Nipissing Serenity Hospice, World Vision or to a charity of your choice.
In accordance with current directives from the Bereavement Authority of Ontario in regard to COVID 19 the total number of attendees is limited and additional precautions are in place. Face masks are mandatory at the funeral home. For more information please contact the funeral home.
