Edith M. Doyle
1952-2020
It is with broken hearts we announce the
passing of Edith May Doyle, 68, of East
Amherst, NS. Edith passed away peacefully on Thursday,
November 19th, 2020 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre
surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with
cancer.
Born in Truro, NS, she was the daughter
of the late Russell Alton and Doris Helen (Tattrie)
Henderson.
After graduating from Truro Senior High
School with a two-year business diploma and a celebratory yellow dress
from her dad, Edith embarked on her first day of a 50-year career in
the financial services industry. Beginning with a 27-year career with
the Bank of Montreal, and concluding with an 18-year career with
Community Credit Union as Vice President, Corporate & Lending
Services. Edith was respected and dedicated throughout her lengthy
career focused on the management and leadership in Retail, Commercial
and Agricultural Banking. This brought her to Halifax, Toronto, South
Western Ontario, Truro, and finally to reside in Amherst with her
beloved husband and best friend of 39 years. Together throughout
life’s many adventures, including raising their two
strong-willed girls, running a small farm operation in Ontario, and
creating a second home in Largo, FL., will remain amongst many
memories forever cherished. Edith’s unwavering dedication,
strength of character, and zest for life will be just a few of the
finer qualities that will be fondly remembered by all that knew
her.
Above all, Edith cherished time spent
with her family. Most notably, Edith spoke fondly of the
family’s last Christmas together at their Florida
home.
Edith will be dearly missed by her
husband, Barrie, East Amherst; daughters Krista Doyle (Richard
Manthorne), Brookdale, NS, Sarah Doyle, East Amherst, NS; brothers
Danny (Margot), Salmon River, NS, Gordon (Anne), Bible Hill, NS, and
Roy (Starr), Hilden, NS; brothers and sisters-in-law; Kevin Doyle,
Tara, ON, Sheldon (Debbie) Doyle, Halifax, NS, Allyson (Paul)
Svenningsen, Truro, NS, Nancy Baker, Kingsville, ON, as well as
several nieces and nephews and her special Holly cat.
In addition to her parents, she was
predeceased by father and mother-in-law Edward and Mary (Gillis)
Doyle, her brother John Henderson and brother-in-law Wendell
Doyle.
The family wishes to extend their
gratitude to the health care providers at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont
