Obituary
Edgar passed away in Red Deer Hospital, on December 1, 2020 at the age of 98 years. He was born in Home Glen district, Alberta in 1922, enlisted in the army in January of 1941, and was discharged in February of 1946. He started Eddie York General Trucking in June of 1946 and married Elsie Doreen Dixon, on September 1, 1950.
He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Doreen; children, Ann Chamzuk of Edmonton; Gordon (Connie) York of Sundre; Linda (Ray) Smith of Wetaskiwin; Grant (Carol) York of Wetaskiwin; Melvin (April) York of Wetaskiwin; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Rachael York; infant daughter, Elaine; son-in-law, Bill Chamzuk; siblings, Dave York, Hattie York, Rae Wilson, Harry York, Mae Drummond, Nellie Heller, and Mary Simpkins; brothers-in-law, George Wilson, Clarence Drummond, Jack Heller, and Alvin Simpkins; sister-in-law, Ethel York.
A private family funeral service and graveside will be held on Friday, December 4, 2020. We will be live streaming the service, at 2:00 p.m. and please note that the link will not appear on this obituary until that time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wetaskiwin Health Foundation (6910 47 St, Wetaskiwin, AB T9A 3N3) or to the charity of donor’s choice.
