Obituary
Ed was born in Calgary on July 1, 1941 and passed away with his family by his side on January 21, 2020 after a brief illness, but a long struggle with dementia at the age of 78 years.
He was predeceased by his parents George “Stick” Winters and Mary (McGoldrick) Winters, and his wife Bev (Bumphrey) Winters. Ed leaves behind his sons, Tim and Devon (Kristiana); his grandchildren Fynn, Teague and Lucia; his brothers Jerry (Val), Bryan (Glenda) and Ward (Nancy); his sister Wendy Isaacs (Bev); and a host of living nieces, nephews and grandnieces and nephews in Calgary and Saskatoon.
Ed worked for Amoco Oil until his retirement in 1996. He was a lifetime member of the Inglewood Golf Club and as a member of the Cal-Den Golf Group he shared their motto “It Don’t Matter” (IDM). Ed traveled widely managing to find golf courses and fine scotch wherever he went.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church (1600 Acadia Drive SE) on Monday, February 3, 2020 at 11:00am. An Irish Wake will follow where family and friends can share stories and memories, and toast Ed with a final dram of scotch. The family would like to thank the staff of the Providence Care Centre for their wonderful care. They will miss his charming smile! Our thanks also to the staff in the ER and Unit 66 at the South Health Campus for their support and care.
