Dr. John Hornell
It is with great sadness that the family of John Alfred Hornell announce his passing on Monday, January 13th, 2020 at the age of 79. Son of the late Walter and Beulah Hornell. John will be greatly missed by his wife Marion (Latimer) of 56 years along with his children Susan (Michael) Cartier, Sandra ( Donald) Watts and Allan (Jennifer) Hornell. Loving grandfather of Carter (Bailee Noseworthy) Claridge, Noah Claridge, Danielle (Wayne Coll) Cartier, Ryan Cartier, Alexandra, Drew and Charlie Watts, Tyler, Cameron and Owen Hornell and Great-grandfather of Elliott JoyLynn Coll. Sister Jean (Bill) Young. Survived by sister in law Janet (late Harold) Cameron, his niece Ann (Richard) Caryn and Nephew David (Cheryl) Cameron and there families. He will be greatly miss by family and cherished friends. John graduated from the University of Toronto, faculty of Dentistry in 1963 and practiced in Chatham until his retirement in 2002. John was an active member and strong supporter of Sprucedale United church, Hospitaller Order of St. John of Jerusalem, Past Master of Wellington-Victory #46, 33 degree Scottish Rite Mason, most York Rite bodies. John received The Order of the Purple Cross and was a member of Mocha Shrine. We would like to extend a sincere thank you to our family and friends for their love and support over the past few years. To Dr. Wheeler and his staff, Dr. Kay, the VON nurses and the special and loving care he received from Mary, Nicole, Reta and Lori. They certainly made all of our lives and his so much easier. Family and friends are invited to the Alexander & Houle Funeral Home, 245 Wellington West, Chatham, 519-352-2710 on Thursday January 16th with visiting from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of funeral home on Friday January 17th, 2020 at 11 am with Rev. Carol Ferguson of Sprucedale United Church officiating. Cremation to follow with interment to take place at a later date. Friends planning an expression of remembrance are asked to consider Sprucedale United Church and London Children’s Learning Centre.
