Born in Sandy Point on March 26, 1959, he was the son of Jane (MacKinnon) Hatfield/ Symonds and the late Ronald Hatfield. Eric was a loving husband, devoted father, thrilled grandfather and jovial friend to all. Dr. Hatfield served as Past President of the Nova Scotia Dental Association, Past President of the Nova Scotia Dental Board, and contributed to many Provincial and National committees. As recognition, Eric received the Dr. Philip S. Christie Award, for distinguished service. Eric is survived by his cherished family, which include his loving wife of 35 years Joy (Gillespie), Hebron; daughters, Erica (Nick) Falkenham, Bedford; Maggie Hatfield (Caleb), Halifax; son, Andrew Hatfield (Emilie), Summerville; Mom and stepdad Jane and Bradford Symonds; sisters, Jennifer Hatfield (Wayne) Truro; Carole Hatfield, Barrington Passage; brothers, Rev. Shaun (Carla) Hatfield, Villagedale; Paul (Paula) Hatfield, Woods Harbour; granddaughter, whom he adored, Madeline Louise Falkenham; many nieces and nephews who treasured him. He is also survived by his extended Gillespie family, whom he loved. Besides his father, Eric was predeceased by his grandparents Irvin and Audrey Hatfield and Donald and Dorothy MacKinnon, as well as a niece, Shelby Hatfield. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth.
