Douglas McLeod
McLeod, Douglas – With sorrow the family announces the death of Mr. Douglas McLeod of Cobalt at the age of 94 years. Our father passed away peacefully at the Temiskaming and District Hospital on Wednesday May 13, 2020.
Doug was born April 24, 1926 in Cobalt to the late Percy and Madge McLeod. He was also predeceased by his brother Robert. At a young age Doug worked at the sawmills in Latchford. Later he started working at the Cobalt Foundry and eventually became manager up until it was destroyed by fire. He ended his working years at the Superior Court of Justice in Haileybury. He spent 26 years as a counselor and reeve of the Township of Coleman. Doug was also an active member of the Cobalt Masonic Lodge. Dad enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.
Doug leaves behind his loving wife of 71 years Cecile (Robitaille), his children Denise (Bill)), Kenneth (Mary-Anne) and Carole (Gordon). Cherished grandfather to Ian, Jennifer, Stephanie, Leslie, Micheal, Tarin, Renée, Shanlea and to ten great-grandchildren. He will be sadly missed.
Cremation has taken place at Lakeview Crematorium, Haileybury. A private family service will take place. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions in Doug’s memory can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society. Condolences and contributions may be left at www.buffamleveille.com.
