Obituary for
Douglas Hardy
Douglas Hardy – December 13, 1956 – September 4, 2020
It is with the deepest sadness that I announce the passing of my brother, Doug Hardy at the Timmins & District Hospital after a long and courageous battle with Huntington’s Disease at age 63.
Predeceased by his parents, Roy and Betty Hardy and his brother Tom Hardy (2010). Doug is survived by his sister Nora Mapplebeck and his beloved daughter Deandra Hardy both of Timmins.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or service.
For those who wish to do so, remembrance donations to the Huntington’s Society of Canada would be appreciated.
At this time I would like to express my thanks and deepest gratitude to the nurses, PCWs and staff on Medical C for their patience, understanding and compassionate care for Doug. Huntington’s is such a rare and devastating disease so a special thanks goes to Dr. Judy Gillies for going the extra mile and her kindness to both Doug and myself.
On a personal note, my love and gratitude goes out to some very special people – Al and Linda, Walt and Janyce and Liz and Brian. Your friendship, kindness and hugs have helped me get through these last difficult years.
Safe travels on this next journey Doug. Listen to your music, be at peace and get some rest. You’ve more than earned it. Keep a light burning. Love You Always. Forever in our hearts.
