Obituary of Douglas Groat
Groat, Douglas of Belmont passed away peacefully at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Sunday, November 1, 2020 in his 89th year. Beloved husband of the late Betty Groat(2011). Dear father of Michael Groat and wife Cindy of Bobcaygeon, Vickie Davis and husband Jeff of St. Thomas, Steven Groat and wife Michelle of Woodstock and Christine Bloetjes and husband Steve of Dorchester. Loved by his grandchildren Michelle (Dave), Neil, Jaclyn, Jeremy (JoAnn), Jason (Jacqui), Stephanie, Jessica(Detmer), Nicole and Shelley. Great-grandfather of Carson, Emelia, Cameron, Mason, Olivia, Chase, Daniel and Lucas. Also survived by his sister-in-law Marie Hartney and a number of nieces and nephews. For over 40 years, Doug took great pride in his career with International Harvester. A lifelong resident of Belmont, he was a past Master of Belmont Masonic Lodge and a former member of the Belmont Lions Club. A private family service will be held at the H.A. Kebbel Funeral Home. Interment, Dorchester Union Cemetery. Donations to the Belmont Community Park or Belmont United Church as expressions of sympathy would be appreciated by the family.
