Douglas Edward “Doug” Brown
1938-2020
It is with profound sadness we announce the sudden passing of our
beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, Doug Brown , on
Wednesday, February 5th, 2020, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in
London.
Doug is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 48 years, Anne. He
will be forever missed by his two children, Lori (Farhad) and Keith
(Kim Sauder). He will also be lovingly remembered by his
grandchildren, Emily, Zack, Sadie, Jake and brother Ray (Yvonne),
sisters Edith (John) and Marylou (Gary). Doug worked as a sheet metal
mechanic for 49 years at N.R. Murphy Ltd. He had many lifelong
friends and truly enjoyed his time there. He was always very active in
sports involving his kids and could often be found on the
coach’s bench. He was the ultimate handy-man and was always to
be found puttering around the house with different projects. He could
often be found in one of the aisles of Home Depot. Keith would keep
him busy doing renovations and bonding over who had the better hammer.
He enjoyed his pets, gardening and catching up with old friends. He
was always busy! Doug was a big kid, he laughed often and was always
joking around. He was our rock when we needed him, and always quick to
make us smile. My dad has given me some of the best advice and I will
forever cherish those moments. His grandchildren were his ultimate
pride and joy and he spent most days with them. From being there to
help in teaching them to walk to riding bikes, he was a huge part of
their lives. He was extraordinarily proud of Emily going into College
and getting to see her become a young woman (though he always thought
it was too fast), and him and Zack shared a passion for all things
sports and would often go to hockey or baseball games together. Sadie
and him had there own special bond and she’d often be cuddled up
beside him on the couch. He loved to joke, play, read or watch movies
with Jake, they were truly best friends. Words cannot express the
loss we feel. He was truly the “sunshine of our family”.
We will be holding a Celebration of Life in his honour. Please join
us for light refreshments, and to share laughs and memories;
