Doug Smith

SMITH, Doug – Passed away at Woodingford Lodge, Woodstock on Monday, February 17, 2020, Douglas Murray Smith of Woodstock in his 80th year.
His wife Jackie Smith (nee Douglas) predeceased him in 2010. Survived by his children Doug Smith Jr. (Micheline) of Woodstock, Steve Smith (Tressa) of Trenton and Jennifer Sloane (David) of Woodstock. Loving grandfather of Katy, Christian, Tessa, Hope, Meadow, Trevin, Maera and Lilyana. Brother and brother-in-law of Diane Savard (Omer) of Oshawa and Wally. Remembered by his nephew Terrance Smith (Amparo) of Mexico as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family. Doug is predeceased by his parents Raymond and Eva (nee Logan) Smith and siblings Jackie, Grace, and Raymond.
Doug was a devoted Police Officer and finished his career in Norwich. While being a resident of Woodingford Lodge, he became known as “PAPA D” because he entertained fellow residence and staff with music while wearing a variety of costumes. He implemented his ‘Rock N Roll Parties” in the GPA. On behalf of the family, they wish to express their sincerest gratitude to the staff at Woodingford Lodge for the love and care Doug had received.
Cremation has taken place and a family only interment of ashes, reuniting Doug and Jackie will take place in the Anglican Cemetery in the spring. If desired, memorial donations can be made to Canadian Police Association and would be appreciated.
