Obituary for
Doug
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Doug, who on December 3rd, 2020 at the age of 62, fell asleep in death at Hamilton General Hospital.
Doug was a loving husband and “best friend”, father and grandfather to: his wife Julie of 41 years; their two daughters Breyana (Javet) and Kierra (Trevor); and their six grandchildren, Liam, Landon, Amelia, Charley, Addison and Breylyn. “Our hearts are pained by the loss of Dad. We had so much more we wanted to enjoy together, but we look forward to embracing him once again in health, happiness and laughter in the new world to come.” Rev. 21:3,4
He is survived by six siblings, and will be forever loved and dearly missed by: his two sisters, Kathie (Mark), and Brenda; and his four brothers, Ted, Michael, Joe (Donna), and Tim (Sarah). “We thank God for the gift of our very wonderful and special brother Doug, as we treasure the beautiful memories we have. Even as a boy Doug’s naturally wild and relentless sense of humor and energy kept us all laughing through both the really great and really rough times as well. He has left a long trail of roaring laughter, ummatchable kindness and charm, over-abundance of feistiness, energy, compassion, generosity and wisdom. We look forward to seeing him again.”
“Dougie” will also be fondly remembered by: his three surviving Aunts, Elsie, Anne and Jeanette (Norm); his 18 surviving cousins; and 16 surviving nieces and nephews. “Dougie was always full of fun, laughs, music and dancing, with a unique way of making everyone feel special and loved.”
He is also remembered by his father in-law Leo, brother-in-law Ed (Karolina) and two nieces, along with his brother-in-law John.
Doug is fondly remembered by many family like friends who loved him for his mischievous wit, insightfulness and compassion.
He is predeceased by his parents Mike and Bertha, his daughter Kassia Lynn, his nephew Nolan, his paternal grandparents Peter and Margaret, his maternal grandparents Denis and Marie, and his sister-in-law Linda. All at rest for a time, we look forward to seeing them once again in the coming resurrection. John 5:28
Doug never wanted us to be overly sad. He would be happy in knowing he is so fondly missed by many. In his typical humour he requested: “Please, enjoy my Memorial Service for me, ‘cause well, I ran out of time, so I can’t make it. Bye for now, but I really do hope to see you all again soon.”
It was his fervent desire that those who were able, connect and listen to a memorial discourse and watch a slideshow to be shared on December 19th at 3:00pm. (MORE INFORMATION TO FOLLOW)
