Obituary of Dorothy Elliott
DOROTHY ELLIOTT
Dorothy Emmaline Elliott (nee Peck) formerly of Blyth, passed away peacefully on October 11th in Guelph at the age of 99.
Dorothy was raised on a shorthorn cattle farm on the Babylon Line west of Varna. During her 62 years of marriage to her beloved and devoted husband, Frank, Dorothy was a resident of Blyth, where they raised their four children; Ron Elliott (Gail) of Bobcaygeon, Bruce Elliott (Brenda) of Guelph, Pat Elliott of London and Lynn Elliott of Toronto, all of whom deeply loved and cherished their mother every single day.
Dorothy (Dot) is predeceased by her loving husband, Frank (2005) and by her sweet grandson, Greg (2019). Also predeceased by her brothers; Bob, Harold and Jack, and her sister, Marion.
Dorothy was very generous with her time and experience and extremely resourceful. She imparted many essential lifelong skills to each and every one of her children, all of whom have indelible memories of her kindness, patience and compassion.
Dorothy was a loving and caring Grandma to her 10 grandchildren; Rebecca, Jenny (Scott), Geoffrey (Stacey), James (Christy), Bryce (Cathy), Daniel (Holly), Andrew (Sabrina), Gregory, Jacquelyn (Trevor) and Graham (Nikki). Dorothy was also blessed with 18 wonderful great grandchildren; Kathryn, Jason, Brody, Dylan, Sadie, Eliza, Mya, Alex, Gavin, Fiona, Taylor, Breanna, Lucas, Adalyn, Myla, Rhys, Theo and Regan.
Dorothy embraced gardening with a genuine passion. Many a pleasurable hour was spent planting and hoeing, and then harvesting a variety of vegetables, some of which were unique to the everyday garden.
Dorothy was also very active in the village of Blyth for many years, performing countless enjoyable hours of volunteer work for the United Church Women and the Order of the Eastern Star. During her early married years, she was instrumental in forming a local bridge club of eight ladies who, for decades, met, dealt, played cards and laughed a lot.
Throughout Dorothy and Frank’s life together, they travelled to many far away countries, and in later years they especially enjoyed their winters in Florida.
It is with heartfelt sadness and loving appreciation of her life with us and the many gifts she gave us that we lay our mother to rest beside our father at the Blyth Union Cemetery.
A private family service will be held. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Neil Elliott and Kelly Elliott of Elliott-Madill Funeral Home, Mount Brydges.
