Obituary of Dorothy Whiston
`
WHISTON, Dorothy “Dot”
On Sunday, August 30, 2020, Dorothy “Dot” Whiston, 79, died peacefully in her home surrounded by love and music, knowing she would soon join “her Billy”. Beloved Mum to Dianne (James) Lappan, Andrew Whiston, Tristan (Anna) Whiston; adored and adoring Nana to Chelsea, Nathan, Jordan, Mark, Nikolas and Markus and proud “Polka Dot” to Jaxson, Ruby and Samuel. Dot leaves behind countless friends and family members who celebrate her presence in their life. Most of all, she will be missed by her loyal companion Jasper who watched over her faithfully until the very end.
In these strange and unprecedented times, we are opting for a “drive-up visitation” at the RECEPTION CENTRE of the JAMES REID FUNERAL HOME, 1900 John Counter Blvd., on Tuesday, September 8th from 3:00 – 6:00pm. Funeral home parking lot attendants will be on site to offer direction and oversee Covid protocols. Face coverings are to be worn.
The family will gather privately at Sandhill Cemetery for a graveside ceremony with Rev. Heather McLurg-Murphy officiating. When we are permitted once again to join together and raise our voices in song, we will have a celebration to honour a life well lived and well loved.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Inverary United Church Mission & Service fund would be gratefully accepted. Cheques can be made out to Inverary United Church with the subject line Mission & Service Fund and mailed to Box 69, Inverary ON K0H 1X0 or by etransfer to inveraryunitedchurch@hotmail.com (noting in the message that it is for Mission & Service fund). Alternately, please consider donating to a charity of your choosing or quietly pass a gift to someone who needs a helping hand.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Dorothy

  1. Thanks Dot for our memories and they will not be forgotten. Our paths crossed during your and Bill’s time at Inverary United church.. It has been a short time but a time that is filled with memories that we could write a book. Far to many to share in here. To the family I send my sincere condolences and may you all be at Peace and treasuring the memories you have with life in the Whiston Family and Friends. God be with you all.
