Dorothy Louise Hoar 19402020

Dorothy Louise Hoar
1940-2020
Dorothy Louise
Hoar, of Forest Dale Home and formerly of Waterside, passed away
peacefully on October 26, 2020 at Forest Dale Home with her
loving family by her
side.
Dorothy was born in Hebron, NB, on July 27, 1940 and was the
daughter of the late Frank and Annie (Alcorn) Rossiter.
Dorothy graduated from the Alma school in
1958. She continued her education by attending
Teacher’s College in Fredericton, N.B. where she achieved a teaching
diploma in 1959. She returned home to take up
employment at the Alma school. While teaching at
Alma Consolidated School, she attended night school and summer courses
at the University of Moncton until she received her Masters in
education. Dorothy was dedicated to her students
and tried to make learning fun for all. She was the
type of teacher that would twist an ear, take a hand, open a mind, and
touch a heart. She retired from teaching after 35
years of service.
Dorothy was an active member of her community. She was a
member of the West River United Church, and was a lifetime member of
the West River UCW. She taught Sunday school, led
youth groups, Vacation Bible School, was a Scout Canada leader,
volunteered at Forest Dale and served as president of the Ladies
Auxiliary. She organized and called BINGO at the nursing home every
Tuesday afternoon for years. One event that Dorothy
is most famous to have organized was the yearly apple pie fundraiser,
whether it was for the school or the church.
She was the happiest in her garden and driving her
four-wheeler towing her grandchildren behind her in a
cart. Dorothy would say that her greatest
achievement was her family. She loved her three
boys, Roger Lee, Edward John and Darren Frank. Her
family meant everything to her and when the grandchildren and great
grandchildren started arriving for her this was a new lease on life.
She then became known as “Grammie
Grunt”. She has left her family with a legacy
of pure unconditional love and was a true inspiration to them all and
to anyone that had the privilege of knowing her.
She will be deeply missed by her three sons: Roger (Sandy) of
St. Andrews, Edward (Brenda) of Waterside, Darren (Alice) of
Waterside; her cherished grandchildren, William, Dorothy (Randy),
Joanna (Donald), Laura-Lee (Yves), Melissa, Nathan (Amanda), Jennifer
(Merle), and Jeff; her great grandchildren, Nora, Sadie, Henry,
Vivianne, Elizabeth, William “Liam”, Edward
“Teddy”, Kinnear, Hartford, Rosemary, Nadele and Julie; her
brother, Arnold Rossiter (Linda) of Waterside; brothers-in-law,
Sterling (Velma) and George (Vivian); sisters-in-law, Mabel and
Mary. She will also be missed by all her extended
family, nieces and nephews and many friends.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her beloved
husband of 59 years Reginald; by her infant granddaughter, Angela;
sisters-in-law, Verna (Everett), Della (Glen), Jean (Joe), Marilyn
(Ray); brothers-in-law: Gerald, Frank (Ann), Donnie and
Everett.
She will be resting at the Albert County Funeral Home with
visitation on Thursday, October 29th from
6-9pm. Due to
COVID-19 restrictions, masks are required, social
distancing will be followed and a limited number of people in the
building at one time. A private funeral service
will be held at the Albert County Funeral
Home. Interment will be in the Waterside Cemetery,
Waterside, NB. A Celebration of Her Life will be held at a later date
when it is safe for everyone to attend.
Donations to the Parkinson Society or to the charity of the
donor’s choice would be greatly appreciated by the
family.
Dorothy’s family would like to thank all of the staff at
Forest Dale Home for their care and compassion given
their mother. Also a special thank you to Susan and
Beverly for all of their love and care.
Arrangements are in the care of the Albert County Funeral
Home, 4130 Route 114, Hopewell Cape, NB, E4H-3K2
