On Wednesday, August 19, 2020, Dorothy, loving wife and mother of three, passed away at the age of 84. Dorothy was born on September 1, 1935 in Montreal, QC to the late Sam and the late Florence Putterman. Dorothy was a homemaker, a lunch monitor and a librarian at Solomon Schechter Academy in Montreal, QC. She married Arthur Ivan Lipton in 1958 and raised one daughter, Barbara Lipton, and two sons, Ethan Lipton and Jonathan Lipton. Dorothy was exceptional with children and was particularly close to her good friends. She always enjoyed good conversation and was never shy in offering her opinion. Dorothy also had a passion for travel and was kind and compassionate. Dorothy is predeceased by her loving husband, Arthur Ivan Lipton and survived by her sister, Pauline Kline, her children Ethan, Jonathan and Barbara, as well as her grandchildren Aiden and Seth Lipton. A private graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 27. Flowers or donations in her memory may be sent to the charity of your choice.

  1. With sadness, I unfortunately only found out about the passing of Dorothy today. Very sweet, generous woman who would do anything for her family. She loved road trips and dining out even at midnight. Extremely proud of her heritage and although I never met the love of her life Arthur, I felt as though I had met him through her personality. To her children and grandchildren…and to Jonathan, you have my deepest sympathy.
