Dorothy Jean Jantzen 2020

May 26, 1923 – June 26, 2020
On June 26, 2020, at the age of 97, Dorothy Jean passed from her earthly home in Oliver Lodge, Saskatoon to her long-awaited home in heaven. Her husband, Vernon’s passing in 2014 certainly intensified her desire to be with Jesus.
Dorothy Jean Fehr was born into a large family near Hepburn, Saskatchewan. From an early age she showed an interest in education and with hard work and determination obtained her teaching certificate. In 1953 she married Vernon Jantzen joining him on his farm near Waldheim. 1954 saw the addition of daughter Evangeline, followed by Joyce in 1956 and a son, Daniel in 1959.
In 1961 the family moved to the Lloydminster area where Vernon farmed, and Dorothy Jean resumed her teaching career. Always pursuing education, she got her Bachelor of Arts degree at age 60. After retirement, they went on to do mission work in rural Saskatchewan, Germany and Haiti. When their travelling days were done and it was time to retire again, they returned to Saskatchewan, settling in Saskatoon. Always looking to be involved in ministry, Dorothy Jean enjoyed interacting with international students, working in MCC and crafting quilts from material that would otherwise have been discarded.
Dorothy Jean leaves behind her three children and their families, now including eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She leaves to them her collections of coins, stamps and seashells. But of far greater importance she leaves a legacy of faith and her example of a strong, unwavering commitment to Jesus Christ.
A private graveside service will be held July 4 at 1:00 PM at the Brotherfield Cemetery.
