Dorothy Hansen 19232020

Dorothy Hansen
1923-2020
With her loving family by her side, Dorothy Hansen, 97, of
New Denmark went to meet her Lord on March 4, 2020 at the Grand Falls
General Hospital. She was born at New Denmark in 1923, a
daughter of the late Bert and Cecilia (Neilsen)
Paulsen.
At the age of 87, she climbed Mount Carleton and was one of
the first persons to go on the Grand Falls zip line, a feat she
continued doing until she was 95 and was known as the zip line
lady. She was also known for her many beautiful wedding
cakes and almond breads. She also enjoyed dancing and was a
great story teller. But her pride and joy was her
family.
As well as her parents, she was predeceased by her husband
Carl O. Hansen, sister Arlene and brother Sydney (Ruth) Paulsen,
daughter-in-law, Marlene Hansen. She is survived by her sons
Curtis (Susan) and Terry (Sandra) of New Denmark and daughter Pamela
(Russell) Dolph of Huntington, NY, six grandchildren, Scott, Kyra,
Kara, Kevin, Colin and Melva, five great grandchildren, Terry John,
Colton, Alex, Sydney and Dylan, sister Gail Cote of Bangor, Maine, as
well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and many
friends.
It was her request that a Memorial Service celebrating her
life be held in her beloved St. Ansgar’s Anglican Church at a later
date when the grass is green and the flowers are
blooming.
The family wishes to commend the staff of the Grand Falls
Greneral Hospital for the loving care given to our
mother.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Ansgar’s
Cemetery Fund.
Arrangements are by O’Regan’s Funeral Home Ltd.
