Obituary For Dorothy Clegg
Dorothy Clegg (nee Moss), longtime resident of Fairview, AB passed away on December 8, 2020 at the age of 85 years. Dorothy was born at home in Golden Meadow, AB on June 18, 1935 to Oliver and Margaret (Peggy) Moss. Peggy died in December 1937 when Dorothy was two and a half, she stayed briefly with friends and family until her “Mom” (her Auntie Elizabeth Snideman who was her Dad’s eldest sister) took her home to Cluny where she lived and went to elementary and junior high school. Dorothy moved to Tisdale, Saskatchewan for grades 10 and 11 and then moved to Fairview where she graduated from High School. Dorothy lived with the Anthony Family while going to High School – they were like family and have been very special life long friends.
Dorothy was forever grateful for her happy childhood and for the life learnings from her mom. In her journaling, Dorothy wrote: “My mom was my everything”.
After graduating high school, Dorothy worked at the Royal Bank until her marriage. Dorothy worked various retail jobs before landing at the CIBC where she worked until her retirement.
In 1956, Dorothy married Glen Clegg and they moved to the family farm where they lived, worked and raised their family. Despite being a town girl, Dorothy soon had the farm life down pat and took pride in caring for her greatest loves; her home and family. These were busy but happy times. Dorothy and Glen had good friends with whom they socialized, were active in the community, the church and minor hockey. Dorothy was an avid quilter and a perfectionist – her work is beautiful. Dorothy was very supportive of Glen’s career in local and then provincial politics. Political life kept Glen and Dorothy busy until their retirement.
After retirement, Glen and Dorothy spent their winters in Mexico where they enjoyed each other, a new culture and many many amazing friends (their Mexico Family). Thank you to those special friends for making Glen and Dorothy’s time in Mexico so wonderful.
Dorothy is survived by her 5 children; Carol (Dale) Richardson, Glenda Forster, Bruce (Jodi) Clegg, Greg (Janis) Clegg, David (Sandra) Clegg, 18 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, her brother, Roy Moss, sister-in-law Iris (Denis) Williams of Victoria, BC and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was predeceased by Glen in May 2016 and not a day went by that she did not miss him. As Dorothy’s granddaughter recently posted, “I like to think they are together again”.
Covid has been particularly hard on our seniors. Dorothy lived at Lakeview in Clairmont for two and a half years before coming “home” to family where she spent her final month being loved and cared for. Dorothy was very grateful for the 8 nurses in the family and the “honorary’ nurses who cared for her until her peaceful passing on Dec. 8, 2020.
The family wishes to thank the staff and residents at Lakeview for welcoming Dorothy into their Lakeview family and making her time there special.
Due to Covid restrictions, a small graveside service will take place on Dec. 15, 2020 at the Waterhole Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Moving Mountains for Mighty Max (a young Fairview boy who needs our love and financial support to get much needed medical treatment) or the Fairview Hospital Palliative Care Unit.
“Those we love don’t walk away, they walk beside us everyday”.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Dorothy Clegg 18/06/1935 08/12/2020..
