Dorothy Ann MacLean
January 27, 1922 – November 10, 2020

Age 98 of Middle Sackville, passed away peacefully in Windsor Elms Village on Tuesday November 10, 2020. Born in Halifax on Jan 27, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Mary (Beuree) Gay. Following her marriage to Archie, Dot lived in Afton, Antigonish County, helping Archie in their general store and gas station. Dot made many lifelong friends in the Afton and Bayfield area. They sold the family business and moved to Chilliwack, BC. It was there that Dot took up nursing and loved every minute of it. They eventually moved back “home” and lived in Bedford for many years. Dot continued working in nursing until retirement. After Archie’s death, she moved to Sackville with her daughter and family. Dot loved to travel and enjoyed many bus tours over the years. She was a longtime member of the Bedford Leisure Club enjoying her twice weekly elderobic classes into her late 90’s.
She is survived by daughter Mary Greenham, Middle Sackville, NS; son Don (Sue) MacLean, Port Williams, NS; grandchildren Shawna (Mark) White, Sean MacLean, David (Melanie) MacLean, Glenn (Sarah) Greenham; her much adored great-grandchildren Brianna and Evan White, Reece and Seamus MacLean, Ethan and Grace Greenham, as well as many special nieces and nephews. She was the last remaining member of her immediate family. Dot was predeceased by her husband Archie; brothers James, Ralph, Herbert and Charles Gay; sisters Mildred Gay, Pauline Valentine, and Laura O’Quinn; son-in-law Ken Greenham. Special thanks to CBI Home Care, especially longtime care workers Melissa, Ashley and Jane, Parkwood Home Care, V.O.N. and Windsor Elms Village for their care during Dot’s last days.
