Doris Mae MacDonald 2020

In Loving Memory
Doris Mae MacDonald
April 10, 1927 – August 27, 2020
Miramichi, NB
With heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Doris MacDonald beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, neighbour and friend.
Doris was the daughter of Percy and Beatrice (Weston) Corning. She was born in Yarmouth, NS on April 10, 1927. She lived with her brothers Allan, Keith, Roy and her sister Marjorie (Corning) Bulmer. She moved to Truro where she lived with her family for several years.
Doris was predeceased by her beloved husband of 69 years, John D. MacDonald. Doris and John raised their family in Fredericton where they lived for over 50 years on Union Street in Devon. Parties, practical jokes, and fun filled their home. While in Fredericton, Doris worked for many years at Levine’s Men’s Clothing Store, Hall’s Book Store and Kmart. Doris loved to dance. John and Doris danced beautifully together. They started dancing when they met in 1947 and they danced every chance they could. She was a member of Gibson Memorial Church in Fredericton.
Doris and John moved to Miramichi in 2002 and she soon became a regular patron of Kingsway Restaurant and every music jam in the region. During the summer – rain or shine – Doris enjoyed her reserved spot at Ritchie Wharf to listen to the live music concerts. Doris had a wonderful circle of friends in Miramichi and they celebrated many free birthday lunches at Pizza Delight.
Doris was a woman with many talents. She was an accomplished artist and many of her pieces are framed and on display in her children’s homes. She hand-stitched fur teddy-bears and she was skilled at crochet, needle-point, knitting and tatting. Doris loved playing Bingo, challenging jig-saw puzzles, scratch tickets and colouring.
Doris passed away peacefully on August 27, 2020 and she was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her death. She was 93 years old.
Doris is survived by her daughter Diane Arbeau (Leon), her son David (Elizabeth), her adored grandchildren: Darren Arbeau (Christine), Craig Arbeau (Jennifer), Jayme MacDonald (Lisa), Graham MacDonald (Alyssa), and his cherished great-grandchildren Ty, Ryan, Owen, Jake, Spencer, Skylar, Isla Grace and Annie Mae. She leaves many special nieces and nephews across the country.
The MacDonald family wishes to thank the Nursing and Care Staff of Miramichi Seniors Home and Bridgeview Hall for their excellent care while Doris was a resident.
There will be no visitation or funeral service but a celebration of Doris’s life will be held at a later date. For those who wish, expressions of sympathy can be made by donation to Hospice Miramichi or a charity of the donor’s choice.
