Obituary of Doris Emma Ince (nee Robinson)
INCE, Doris Emma (née Robinson)- Of St. Thomas, passed away at her residence on Monday, December 7, 2020, in her 92nd year. Wife of the late Sterling C. Ince (March 16, 2020). Mother of Roger Ince (Banu), Phyllis Lichty (Roger), Martin Ince (Liwen) and Colleen Jacobs (Andrew). Grandmother to; Brina, Shannon, and Daniel Lichty, Adair and Tristan Jacobs, Bethany, Nathan, Hannah and Yilin Ince, and Elliot Ince. Great Grandmother to Shilo.
Born in Blanshard Township, Perth County, ON, April 29, 1929, she was the second daughter of the late Jeffery R. and Emma Elizabeth “Bessie” (née Bragg) Robinson. As a girl, she was most often found helping her Dad on the farm, driving the horses, mending the fences, and feeding the mink, but she never liked the chickens. Trained as a teacher, she taught for several years in the area surrounding St Marys and later in Exeter. She was an excellent accompanist and sang alto in the choir. She enjoyed gardening, bird-watching, and genealogy, and later in life developed an appreciation for Turkish style cooking. Her spirit was kind and gentle and she truly was a sweet lady.
In keeping with Doris’ wishes, arrangements are kept to a minimum; cremation and private interment in St. Thomas Cemetery. A public gathering to celebrate the lives of Doris and Sterling will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
Arrangements entrusted to the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160).
