Obituary
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother at the age of 91.
Doreen was born in Edmonton, spent her younger years in Regina SK, her teenage years in Saint John, NB and returned to Regina where she met the love of her life Charles (Bud) Willmott. They were married in 1950 in Regina and then moved to Calgary in 1953 with their two young boys. Over the next 16 years they welcomed 3 more children into their lives. Sadly, Bud died young in 1969, leaving her to raise their 5 children on her own. Doreen worked for many years as an Accounts Payable/Receivable administrator until her retirement. She is survived by her children Gord Willmott, Len Willmott, Joan Kozlowski (James), Don Willmott (Bev) and Paula Fowler. She was a very special grandmother to Kelsey (Tanikko), Cameron, Jeff (Mike), Chris (Katherine), Greg, Michaela (Carille), Talen, and Evan, as well as her great-granddaughter Octavia.
Doreen loved watching many sports, but was especially passionate about lacrosse. She held season’s tickets to the Calgary Roughnecks since day one. She had a great sense of humour and liked to socialize. She enjoyed murder mysteries and playing a variety of card games with her friends, but nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her family, who she loved more than anything.
She will be missed by her friends at the Francis Klein Centre, the Trico Centre Seniors’ Tuesday Crib Club, and everyone who knew her.
As per her wishes there will be no memorial service, however a tree will be planted in her memory.
