Donna’s Obituary
Bower,Donna Rita (nee Blakeney) passed away at home on July 3rd at the age of 69 years old, surrounded by family. She was predeceased by her parents Harold & Jean Blakeney, and her three children Donald “Donnie”, Douglas “Dougie” & David Stonebridge. She is survived by her husband William “Bub”, her children Adam, Stanley, John & Bobby, brothers ,Pete & Bobby, sisters Linda & Joan, 17 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Donna was a foster parent to many, accepted many exchange students throughout the years and accepted anyone into her house with a cup of tea, a warm meal, a place to sleep and baked goods, a doily & gifts when leaving. Her generosity will be remembered. Her cooking will be remembered by many. She cooked for the Nova Scotia School for Boys, the Roseway Hospital, the Nova Scotia Community College, as well as countless banquets, pot lucks and any opportunity to share her bread buns and seafood chowder. There will be a visitation at Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 58 Bulkley Street, Shelburne on July 7 from 7pm to 9pm. Due to Covid-19, there is a maximum of 10 people at one time with social distancing rules in place. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to VON Canada (von.ca), who was there every day in the end, to help Donna and family through everything and for whom we are grateful.
