Obituary for Donlea Holman
November 10, 1976 – July 7, 2020
Donlea Holman, resident of Grande Prairie, passed away peacefully at the age of 43 years in the early hours of Tuesday morning July 7, 2020 at home surrounded by her family after a lengthy battle with Breast Cancer.
Donlea had a great zest for life and it was evident in all she did. It was all, or nothing. In her short time spent here on earth, she packed in a lot of living. Her first passion was her family whom she loved dearly; she devoted a lot of time making sure that her loved ones were looked after. She gave herself wholly – be it her time, talent, or money to help those in need. If there was something to volunteer for you could bet that her name would be on the sign-up sheet. She had a very hard time with the word, “No.”
Her second passion was teaching. She began her career at Avondale school. She loved and shared with those she taught as if they were her own, and the kids loved her dearly too. Her final days teaching were spent at Isabel Campbell where she made many friends.
In between home, teaching, and acting as a cab driver for her kids she also volunteered with Bandaged Paws. Not only did she assist in rescue and work at the facility, she was a foster Mom to many critters who were nursed back to health by her love for animals.
She has left a big hole in the world of those that loved her, she will be sorely missed. She leaves behind her husband Rick, daughters Jaci, Jordi and Ava, father Bud and stepmom Trudy, brother Terry (Georgia), sister Kristine (Jeff) and their children Carson and Eddie, stepbrother Evan Boyd (Pam) and their children Samantha and Bryce, stepsister Erin Serediak (Glenn), grandmother Dorothy McBeth, father and mother-in-law Rick and Catherine Holman, brothers-in-law Doug (Shawna) and their children, Travis and his children, as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.
Donlea was predeceased by her mother Jacquie Peterson, her grandfather Roy Speed, as well as Grandpa Clarence and Grandma June Peterson.
Donlea’s family would like to thank Homecare, especially Gina and Louise for their care and compassion at a difficult time. To the Cancer Clinic, our sincere thanks to ALL those who aided in Donlea’s treatment.
