Obituary of Donald Nelson McKenzie
Donald McKenzie
May 30, 1945 ~ February 4, 2020
Sadly, Don McKenzie passed away on his home farm north of Coronation of a heart attack on February 4, 2020. He lived his entire life in Coronation graduating from the High School and was a partner working at Bells Foods Store with his mother Pearle and step father Walter until he purchased his own farm. He was involved in many aspects of the town such as maintaining the cemetery, visiting patients in the hospital, Communities in Bloom and many others. He was well loved for his quiet, hardworking, dependable attributes. As his stepfather once aptly said, “If I had one more Donnie I wouldn’t need any more staff.”
In his younger years he played hockey, curled and golfed until recently.
His lifelong passion was farming when he raised Maine Anjou cattle.
He will be missed not only by his relatives and friends but his weekly coffee buddies.
Don was the son of Pearle and Alister McKenzie [both deceased] and step-father Walter Bell [deceased]. He is survived by brother Hugh [Eleanor] McKenzie, sister Fern [Cam] Marks, sister June [Rod] Ruttan, sister Dixie [Darryl] Sankey, brother Pat [Judy O’Brien] Bell, sister Shannon [Keith Pieper] Bell. Plus many cousins, nieces and nephews.
