Obituary of Donald Kreutzer
Don Kreutzer, a long time resident of Dawson Creek, BC, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2020, in Dawson Creek, at the age of 77 years.
Donald Jack Bertram Kreutzer was born in Winnipeg, MB on August 14, 1942, to Jack and Ruth Kreutzer. He was the second of 3 children. Don met his wife Brenda (nee Molnar) in 1962 and they married January 18, 1964 in Winnipeg. After numerous company transfers, the family moved to Dawson Creek in 1974 where they both dug deep roots, surrounding the family with a broad circle of friends who became
like family. Community service became a way of life as they both believed in giving back to the
community they had come to love.
Don left the company that brought them to Dawson Creek in 1978 at which time he joined the
Lakeview Credit Union as the Credit Manager. He remained there for the next 25 years until he
retired. This was back in the day when banking was still somewhat simple. From the countless comments the family has received upon notice of his passing, he is remembered fondly by
many for his subtle, personal way of looking after LVCU members.
His commitment to his community and his athletic spirit, led to his involvement in many clubs
and organizations. He was a member of the Gyro Club, Rotary Club, DC Athletic Association,
DC Curling Club, DC Golf & Country Club, Elks Club, and the early days of the Child Development Centre, among others.
When he retired from the LVCU in 2003, he took a few years off to just play golf. And when he
wasn’t teeing off, he spent his time driving a bus for the Step Up & Ride Society, something he
truly enjoyed.
He was a man of few words but loved having friends and family around. He had a soft spot for all animals and never, ever said no to the countless strays that were brought home over the years. His passion was golf and he simply loved just going for a drive.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Brenda, Daughters; Debbie Pavlis (Tim), Donna
Kreutzer-Jones (Kevin), & Dayna Purdy (Steve). He also has 6 grandchildren; Jenica & Jillian
Pavlis, Jackson & Livia Jones and Addyson & Landon Purdy.
Predeceased by his parents and older sister Carol (Jim) Foster, he is survived by
his younger sister, Darlene (Murray) Deacon.
When we are able to gather again, we will celebrate his life with family and friends.
For friends so wishing, donations may be made in memory of Don to the Step Up & Ride Society of Dawson Creek, 732 115 Avenue, Dawson Creek, BC V2G3B8 or e-transfers can be sent to sunrs@telus.net.
