Obituary of Donald Blair Cameron
Donald Blair “DonCam” Cameron, 62, Would have hated to have a normal obituary. This will not be that.
He was known to be a real story-teller. The truthfulness of some of them were always open for debate. From his childhood days in Urbania right to the day he died, he amassed many tales.
Anyone who spent some time at the lake with DonCam knows two things, if you’re on the tube, you’re getting dumped, and he had a knack for wrecking propellers on his boat, Sweet Shirley. He was always down for a quick rip or a two-beer tour.
One of his proudest accomplishments was building his log home in River John, but he ended his days in a 35-foot travel trailer and was just as happy.
He loved travelling with his ‘Pard’ Shanda, and they stemmed a tradition of beer of the day that’s spread throughout their friends and family. Consider all future beers of the day as a toast to DonCam.
He was a proud Dad and Grampie, and had a lot of love for his kids, Ginny (Shann) Abby (Paddy Boy) and grandsons Will and Cooper and ‘that f*ing dog,’ Kiwi. DonCam took his role of father-in-law very seriously, and took Shann under his wing when he lost his dad.
The Cam Clan lost a founding member and Donnie is survived by his mom, Pearle, and his siblings Doug (Sandy), Judy, Jan (Mike aka Freddie), and Joey (Dom).
He leaves behind a long list of nieces, nephews, and more adopted “Cam Clanners” than we could possibly mention. He had a special place for his “third” daughter, Tracy.
His love of sports was re-kindled watching his grandsons play hockey and ball. He left his boys with his parting wisdom that ‘the penalty box isn’t always a bad place.’ He started curling in his last few years and really enjoyed the sport, even though he had to use a stick because of all his artificial joints.
We’re positive he’s reconnected with his Dads, The Bills.
Thank you to those who helped in his final days, especially those at CEHHC. There are not words to express how appreciated your kindness was.
DonCam lived a life of adventure and we’re positive you’ve shared one or two with him. If you have, please share your best stories, no matter how inappropriate they might be.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home.
Tributes, words of comfort and memories of DonCam maybe shared with the family at: www.ettingerfuneralhome.com
As a sports lover, DonCam would love nothing more for you to show your support to a local sports organization of your choice or the Terry Fox Foundation.
We love our Dear Ole Dad and Grampie.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Donald
