Donald W. Barry
1928-2020
Donald Winfred Barry, 91, of Clearland and Northwest, Lunenburg
County, NS passed away February 17th 2020 at Shoreham Village,
Chester, NS.
Born in Maitland, Lunenburg County, he was the son of the late Winfred
T. and Stella A. (Oickle) Barry.
Donald is survived by son, Gregory (Judith), Upper Cornwall; daughter,
Melinda Barrier (Russell), Hebbville; son, Stephen (Leslee),
Clearland and son, Wade (Shelley), Upper Cornwall; grandchildren,
Meghan (Paul), Adam (Emily), Elizabeth (Shawn), Joshua ( Robin),
Douglas (Alison), Christopher (Megan), David (Jesse), Jennah (Colin)
and great grandchildren, Augustus, Atticus, Maddox, Asher, Rory and
Margot.
Donald was predeceased by his loving wife, Florence (Veinotte) and all
of his siblings, sisters, Phyllis, Pearl, Jean and Shirley and
brothers, John, Ivan, Ray and George.
Dad was a handsome, complicated man, gifted in many areas including
music, drawing and operating heavy equipment. Quietly inquisitive, Dad
was known for his wide array of backyard engineering projects, many of
which actually worked. During his lifetime he was a dairy farmer, a
body work specialist, a school bus driver, and the owner of a heavy
equipment business often run with the involvement of one or more sons.
Church life was always important to Dad. All his life he had a
special love of children and he took great pleasure in bird watching
and growing flowers on his property. He insisted that the Chevy Malibu
was the only car a man should own. Especially during his time at
Shoreham Village, Dad was always ready to give the very best hugs to
anyone around.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to all of the kind
and generous people at Shoreham Village in Chester, who took such
wonderful, loving and compassionate care of Dad for the past several
years.
