Obituary of Donald R. MacDonald
Donald Ross MacDonald, age 71, of Doctor’s Brook, passed away on January 7, 2020 in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. He was born July 28, 1948 in Boston, Massachusetts to Lester J. and Mary D. (Morganelli) MacDonald. He was a graduate of Boston Latin High School and Northeastern University in Boston, 1970. Donald began his career as an accountant in Danville, Illinois for Hyster Corporation and then in Toronto, Canada for Emerson Corporation. He moved and settled in Antigonish, NS where he started his own business. In 1993, he was elected to Softball Canada Board of Directors until 2011, being re-elected several times, in which he supervised seventeen consecutive championships from 1994 to 2010. He is a Past President of Softball NS and was inducted into the Softball Canada Hall of Fame in 2014. Donald was a well-known and respected gentleman in his community. He is survived by his sisters Sandra (Peter) Lucchesi and Susan (Robert) Wood; nieces Danielle (Eugene) Buczynski, Liana (Michael Jr.) Labriola, nephew Christopher Lucchesi; and great nieces Morgan and Julia Buczynski. Visitation will be held from 2-6 pm Sunday, Jan 12, 2020 in MacIsaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant St., Antigonish. Funeral Mass 11 am Monday in St. Margaret of Scotland Church, Arisaig, Rev.
