Donald “Donnie”‘s Obituary
USHER, Donald E. “Donnie”– age 68, Yarmouth, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 9th, 2020 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born July 3rd, 1952, he was the eldest son of the late Don senior and Marie (McBride) Usher. Donnie was born in Dartmouth and moved to Yarmouth in 1969. He is survived by his loving wife Claire Usher. Donnie was an avid supporter of special needs, and was well known for his continuous generosity. He was active and past president in minor league baseball and minor hockey and provided volunteer services for many local organizations. He was a member of St.-Ambrose Co-Cathedral and an active member of the Knights of Columbus, council 2181, 4th degree. He also served on various boards and committees. He is also survived by his brother David of Dartmouth; his children Marie Hines of Yarmouth, Donald Usher (Chelsey), Glen (Anita) Howard, Calgary; Marla (Chris) Pyne of Yarmouth, Matthew (Melissa) Usher of Yarmouth, tania (Bill) Claridge of Dartmouth, Jennifer (Peter) Willis of Dartmouth, Isaac (Allison) Paris of Yarmouth, along with his 21 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and 3 nieces and 1 nephew. Other than his parents, Donnie is pre deceased by his brother Philip and Allan and sister Cathy. Donnie will greatly be missed. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth, where visitation will take place from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday with prayers at 8 p.m. A funeral Mass will take place at 10 a.m., Thursday, November 12th from St. Ambrose Co-Cathedral, Yarmouth, Father Henry Smolenars officiating. The funeral service will be live streamed on the St. Ambrose Parish’s Facebook Page. Interment to follow in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, seating may be limited at both the funeral home and church and social distancing guidelines must be followed (immediate family will be given priority for seating). In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Donnie may be made to the J Strong Fund. You may leave messages of condolence for the family at www.huskilson.net
