Donald Baker, 85, of Cardinal, died Tuesday June 9, 2020 peacefully at the Dundas Manor retirement home in Winchester Ont. Loving father of Torrey Baker(Angie) of Brockville ON, Tamara Baker, Tanya Tobin(Michael) of Cardinal ON, Tara Bailey(Tony) of Cardinal ON and Tiffany Bathurst of Ottawa ON. Dear brother of Elaine Knudson(late John) of Cardinal ON, and Jean Baker of British Columbia. Donald “papa” will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren Bret, Megan, Kelsey, Marrisa, Jacob, Nick, Emma, Victoria, Sarah and Kristian, his great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Clifford Baker and his mother Ruth Margaret Baker (nee Laushway). Donald took great pride and enjoyment in working as an electrician for Casco Cardinal over many years until his retirement. His time spent away from work was fully devoted to his five children, whether it was attending and cheering for their sporting events to being their personal chauffeur until they got their driver’s license. With lots of fond memories of family trips to Florida, pool parties and swim meets, these were just the start of many activities Donald actively participated in for his children. Once his children were all grown Papa spent countless hours doting on his ten grandchildren. From changing diapers to attending their sporting events, graduations and other special events Donald was always there smiling through his mustache. He loved having all the family together, which generally ended in a Chinese food feast. He leaves behind loving, joyful and fond memories that his family will cherish forever.
Funeral Arrangements
At this time there will be no visitation or funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada. The family of Donald Baker would like to thank all the staff at Dundas Manor and Brockville General Hospital for the kind-hearted care they provided him.
