Donald Carey 2020

Donald James “Duck” Carey
Bras d’Or
It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our dear brother and uncle, Donald “Duck” Carey, age 61, on Thursday, February 27, 2020, at home.
Donald was born June 28, 1958 to the late Louis and Sadie (Pentz) Carey. Donald enjoyed his mornings spent at Tim Hortons, chatting with his buddies. He went to weekly card games and looked forward to the annual Burnt Potato Fest at the Creek. He worked for Harrietha’s trucking, and retired to care for his mom.
Donald is survived by his siblings Sonny (Pat), Sophie Tucker, George, Ella Marg (Allister) Phillips, Alfred (Annie), Gladys (Fred) Howell, Catherine (George) Rudderham, Martha Genter, Auley (Ella), and Joe Glen (Michelle). He also held a special bond with his nieces and nephews, whom he thought of as his own. He had special relationships with several cousins and friends who will miss him dearly.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters Isabel, and Phyllis, and brothers Thomas, John, and Raymond.
By request, there will be no visitation. Funeral mass will be held in St. Joseph Church, Bras d’Or, on Monday March 2, at 10:30am with Father Peter McLeod officiating. Charitable donations in Donald’s memory may be made to the Diabetes Association. Words of comfort may be forwarded to his family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com
