July 30, 1939, Sheenboro, Québec – December 16, 2020, Ottawa, Ontario
Retired member of the Ottawa Police Service (36 years)
Peacefully, at the Glebe Centre, from complications of diabetes and dementia. Son of the late Patrick and Mary (née Walker). Husband of Noellie (née Larose) for 56 years. Very loving dad of Darren of Vancouver and Anthony (Christine) of Ottawa. Proud grampa of Noëlie of Vancouver and Gabriel of Gatineau. Survived by his siblings Cecil (Helen), Mary Beggan and Leona Ouellette. Predeceased by his brothers Dennis, Clarence, Joseph and Harold and sisters Doreen McGuire, Claire Foley, Theresa Morris, and Helen Chalifour.
Dominic was well known as Ottawa’s Singing Policeman and a promoter of youth talent development. He was the recipient of three Governor General’s Awards and numerous Civic Awards, including the Key to the City of Ottawa (May 2006). Dominic was a proud, longstanding member of the Kiwanis Club of Ottawa.
A Memorial Service will be held in 2021, at a date to be announced. Donations can be made to the Dominic D’Arcy Talent Development Fund care of the Ottawa Community Foundation, 301-75 Albert Street, Ottawa, Ontario, K1P 5E7; by cheque payable to the Ottawa Community Foundation or online at Dominic D’Arcy Talent Development Fund
