Dillon’s Obituary
With great sadness, the family of the late Dillon Nokinsky of Swan Plain, SK, announce his tragic passing in the Canora District on Saturday, September 19, 2020, at the age of 22 years old.
Dillon Harvey James Nokinsky was born to Harvey and Shirley (Prekaski) Nokinsky on March 11, 1998, at the Kamsack Hospital, where he was the first New Years baby born that year.
He was raised and resided in Swan Plain, SK, from birth up until his passing. Dillon received his elementary and high school education in Norquay, SK, and graduated from Norquay High School in 2016.
Dillon loved to play sports. He started hockey at the age of five. Throughout the years, he also played soccer and ball. At the age of five, he joined Ukrainian Dance, an activity he continued until graduation, only taking only one year off to play football. Dillon was also a part of the band club, where he played the drums and trumpet. While in high school, Dillon joined the drama club and was an active member of the Norquay S.A.D.D. Chapter. Additionally, Dillon enjoyed hunting, fishing, snow boarding, camping, trapping, quading, and snowmobiling. Anxiously, he looked forward to the annual camping trip with his buddies.
Dillon started helping on the family farm and as time grew, he acquired his own cattle. In time, he planned on taking over the family operations as well as obtaining his own land and cattle farm. In the summer of 2014, he worked for Prairie Blasting out of Virden, MB. Starting summer of 2015 and until the present, he worked for the R.M. of Clayton #333. Within that time, he spent one summer employed with Westview Marina in Tahsis, B.C and one season at the R.M. of Livingstone #331.
He will be remembered for his loving smile, making time for others, and his helpful kindness. One of Dillon’s proudest moments was when his niece, Dusty, was born on February 17, 2020.
Dillon is survived by his parents, Harvey and Shirley Nokinsky; his two sisters, Amber (Scott) and Chantel; his niece, Dusty; his grandparents, Bernard and Jeanette Nokinsky, Bill Prekaski, and Jane Prekaski; his uncles, Shawn Prekaski, Sheldon Prekaski, and Godfather, David Nokinsky; his aunties, Shawna Prekaski and Laurie Argan; and his Godmother, Kathy Grywachewski; as well as many cousins and friends that loved him dearly.
A public visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, September 28 at the Swan Plain Community Hall, Swan Plain, SK. A Graveside Committal Service will follow at 3:00 p.m., from the Holy Ascension Ukrainian Catholic Parish Cemetery, Swan Plain, SK, with Rev. Fr. Ivan Nahachewsky and Rev. Fr. Warren Dungen as concelebrants.
Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make donations to the Norquay S.A.D.D. Chapter (c/o Box 430, Norquay, SK, S0A 2V0) or to the Holy Ascension Ukrainian Catholic Parish Cemetery Fund, Swan Plain (c/o RR1, Norquay, SK, S0A 2V0), as tokens of remembrance, in memory of Dillon Nokinsky.
